Members and supporters of the Latin Kings lashed out Friday against police over a traffic stop last weekend that led to charges against two men, saying the duo were deliberately targeted.
The men arrested — Richard Robinson and Wesley Williams — joined with local Latin Kings leader Jorge Cornell, members of the Pulpit Forum and other supporters to say police are trying to paint the gang as a violent group, when they actually are seeking peace.
An assistant police chief stood by the department’s actions Friday and declined to comment about the allegations.
